OK, guys!!
I know this opens today for you. Opened last week here. OMG!
GO SEE IT!! It is amazing. Heath Ledger is the ultimate Joker and yummy Christian Bale, well, IS Batman. I used to think that Michael Keaton was the only Batman for me, but Bale is exceptional. I am not a fan of either Katie Holmes or Maggie Gyllanhaal so it didn't matter to me who Rachael was. I think they could have had a more appealing Rachael, but maybe that was the point.
The movie is long.......2 and a half hours, but I never once looked at my watch, the action and story just kept going. I have seen it twice already.

Cloud nine gets all the publicity, but cloud eight actually is cheaper, less crowded, and has a better view.

Went to see this last night and really enjoyed it, there were some really funny parts in it and yeah i jumped 3 times in it (but its ok, other people jumped at the same parts)
Not so sure about Bales gravelly voice when he goes into batman mode though it was kinda annoying.
fave bit was about 3/4s the way through when joker is walking out of the hospital with the detonator - as serious as it was, it was also really funny as he fiddled about with it

Yes see it, see it ASAP!!!!!!!
While Ledger's Joker does steal the show. The other performances are also bang on! Maggie Gyllenhaal is infinitely superior to Katie Holmes. Christian Bale as Batman come on people again greatly superior, Kilmer and Clooney please! *note sarcasm* Bale's Batman like Ledger's Joker are both a much more realistic portrayal of the characters. Batman isn't a overly friendly guy he's a loner. With a very dark, cold, emotionally scarred personality who not only fights the villians of Gotham, but the demons of his own mind. And the Joker.. Well he is the very definition of the word insane. To take a quote from the movie "Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn."
Yet with all this talk of Ledger and Bale. Its important to remember not to compare these performances to Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton 1989's Batman. Because u simply can't and it would be foolish to do so! Both film's were made in very different times '89 and '08 respectively. While it was by now means a perfect one, u could argue the world of 1989 was a more innocent one. Prior 9/11, prior 7/7, prior the whole war on terror. And the roles were played in very different ways... Nicholson's Joker for example was done with a much more over the top dark comic energy played more for laughs than anything else. In comparison to Heath Ledger who's Joker was in every way a psychotic, homicidal, violent maniac! Christian Bale who's Batman was full of gravely menace and intimidation. Next to Michael Keaton's lighter "Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it." one liner portrayal of the Dark Knight.
Batman... Batman... Can somebody tell me what kind of a world we live in, where a man dressed up as a *bat* gets all of my press? This town needs an enema!

when it comes down to his raspy ass-voice, i think its important to remember that we dont live in a world where our close friends and family, and even people who know us well, will not be able to identify us by our voice despite any kind of mask we might be wearing. At the end of the day, id prefer the raspy voice we got, than a helium-esque whine or some other form of high pitched lark. You can only mask your voice so many ways.
aside from that i enjoyed it to aside from the fact his motorbike has no discernible gas tank?

One of my favourite pieced of the film were all the Btaman copycats who raised an interesting point. What the hell gives Bruce Wayne the the right to think he is the only one who can make a difference?
As much as I liked it, I do believe that the whole Harvey Dent "Two Face" story could have been saved for a sequel, it felt like it was kinda squashed in.
