THE RULES


As our little board is growing, we have discovered the need to set some guidelines for our happy family. The way the board is set up is that various admins have various duties you can PM the Admin directly from the staff menu on the left hand side. As a quick reference these are the admins and their roles on the forum.

  • Webmasters METHOS AND ITL. These are not to be contacted under any circumstances re: normal problems they have way to much to do with coding issues and new board modifications. Please contact an admin below in the first instance.


  • Angie and Randall Flagg. Overall Site Admins they control every aspect of normal day to day posting. You have a problem with a member take it up with them. If you want to complain about something take it up with them.


  • Suzi. She is General Admin and acts as a special event admin too. Things like organising realm awards etc.


  • Soul Reaver Graphics Admin. Any kind of graphic falls into his domain including templates for the realm etc. so if you have a brainwave for a new template contact Soul Reaver.


  • Ebony & Biteme well no one has figured out what they do exactly. Biteme apparently keeps Ebs organised, but as to what Ebs does is anyone's guess.


  • Moderators.. currently White Goddess is the Global Moderator but each Admin is also Moderator of various sections so if you have issues with a section of the board PM the Admin concerned with that. Also certain sections have certain rules make sure you read the rules re: that forum.


  • Content in Posts


  • 1. Adult content (sexual or graphic nature, including nekkid boobie pictures and extreme sex chat that would embarrass your mother) is restricted to the Playroom because Ebony and Biteme are greedy and want it all for themselves.

    We are an all-ages board, so seriously, please leave the graphic stuff in the Playroom. Any content found on the main forum that breaks this rule, The user will be yellow carded, and if it still continues then banned. This includes swearing and bad language. No one minds the odd swear word but keep your posts fairly clean and don't use bad language in topic titles. Adult Content is a Choice, not to be inflicted on every member regardless.


  • 2. All pics must be kept to a width of 500 pixels; otherwise it throws the screens out of whack and Methos gets scared that the squirrels are back. Please DO NOT HOTLINK to other sites. They tend to get a bit miffed about others using their bandwidth. And there is the danger that a hotlink can introduce viruses to the board and after the hassles of the past week ANY PIC FOUND TO BE HOTLINKED WILL BE REMOVED AND THE USER GIVEN A WARNING. Please scan for viruses and download to your pc rehost using www.imageshack.us. or www.photobucket.com. or www.imagevenue.com


  • 3. Don't be boring! Before starting a new thread please make sure there isn't one that covers your topic already otherwise we just end up with a million threads saying the same thing.

    Remember that if a topic does not receive replies within a certain number of days, an automatic pruning function will delete it. The exception to this is in the library and art.


  • 4. Spam is not just a potted meat product, it's rude. If you maliciously spam the board, you will be warned, then be banned after the second offence. Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum will be given a warning (see policing below).


  • 5. Please play nice. Do not flame, abuse, deride or discriminate against another member(s). The one exception to this rule is in the Debates and Contraversial issues, where flame wars happen on a daily basis, and things get very heated. The bottom line if you can't take it don't go in there.

    Everyone has a right to an opinion, even if it's stupid, and everyone has the right to disagree with others, but do it in a respectful way that acknowledges the rights of the other person to think for him/herself.

    You cannot maliciously personally attack another member, pick on them, or generally act like a bully. We are all grown ups and this isn't your own personal school yard. This type of behavior will not be rewarded.

    However, good-nature teasing is encouraged and is part of the culture, so you have to deal with that too. Especially if you lurk or give Angie and Randall any opening whatsoever.


  • 5b.Members are asked to not act as 'back seat moderators'. If members note an issue which contravenes something in this policy document they are welcome to bring it to the attention of either the moderator of that forum team. Only do this if a moderator team member has not replied within 24 hours. Do not respond to such topics yourself. Members who consistenly 'act' as moderators may be warned.


  • 6. Stay active! accounts that have no activity after 60 days will most likely be deleted, and accounts that do not post even one post WILL be deleted after 30 days


  • 7. No plotting, back-stabbing, manipulating people's feelings or general cruel or hierarchical behavior; we all have our best friends but that doesn't mean we have to put down those outside our group. If you want to be mean to or about someone, please use a messenger service or personal email, not the public or private sections of the Realm. Or get therapy!

    That doesn't mean we can't gripe to our friends about what a post whoring spammer ITL has become or how Skinner is a slut and flirts with every girl he sees, but keep serious personal issues off the boards please!


  • 8. Please do not trash any other boards in the forums-don't trash the Dungeon, CoA, CoAA or anyone else. This extends to talking about members of other boards who may not have chosen to join ours.


  • 9. If you have posted in a forum about something not working or a problem please wait for a Admin or Webmaster to look at and reply to your post, please do not send pm's out to every member on the board. Or consistantly bump the topic in order to make your complaint top of the list. We will see it and get round to fixing it when we have time. We do have personal lives away from the forum and cannot be here 24/7.

    Please do not post replies in Board Issues threads unless you know how to fix the problem, or you are complaining about a problem. Admins do not have the time to go wading through 6 pages of chatter to see what the problem was.


  • 10.Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media,etc. Users linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. or re-printing material without permision will receive a warning and their post will be removed. Please DO NOT post any passwords to pay sites, links to illegal downloads, or software serial numbers/cracks. Anyone found to have done so will be banned.

    posting of AVATARS


    Users are permitted to utilise a gallery avatar or to link to one of their own (subject to previous points on misuse of bandwidth). User defined avatars are to be no larger than 150 pixels square,contain no animation, contain no image which attempts to portray the user as having an official status here (e.g. mimiking ranks or copying avatars of team members), may not exceed 30kB (30000 Bytes)in filesize and have a consistently high availability (i.e. links to images on slow servers or those prone to failure may be removed).

    Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency,and so forth.

    Users abusing these rules will be warned and/or may lose their avatar privileges


    Posting of Signatures


    Signatures may contain up to five lines (one line being that displayed on a browser opened to 400px width) of text (of small or normal size) and/or one image, valid combinations include; a single image of no more than 200px high, 400px wide and 30kB (30000 Bytes) in size. Signatures containing an image this large may also include one line of small size text. Signatures containing an image of 100px high may include up to three lines of small size text or two lines of normal size text. Images of 15px height or less may allow up to three lines of normal size text or four lines of small size text. Animated images used with Permission of the webmasters.

    Text sizes should be between 9 and 12 (small and normal). Text in signatures is subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, emoticons,and so forth.

  • Users abusing these rules will be warned.


  • Procedures




    a.If you have general questions about the technical side board, please address those questions directly to Methos or ITL.

    b.If you need help on a technical issue, talk to methos. Would like some special avi or picture or banner, talk to ITL or Soul Reaver. They are our designated Tech/Graphics Admins and Resident Genius and will help with those issues.


    Complaint Procedure


    If you have a problem with another poster the following procedure is the only way to get your issue resolved: We do not tolerate any personal issues with other members being posted in open forums. We also ask you that if you know members in the real world then respect their privacy. Everyone is entitled to their privacy, just because you might want to share every last detail about your life doesn't mean they do.


  • 1. Try to work the problem out with the other member first. Please try this before filing an official complaint; in extreme situations, if incident happens while a mod or admin is online, let them know right away so that the situation can be resolved immediately.


  • 2. If that doesn't work or the the situation is too uncomfortable or is a community standards issue, please send your complaint or problem via PM to either Angie or Randall Flagg.


  • Simple issues will be handled by the admin who picks up the complaint; larger issues will be conferred upon by them. If a decision cannot be reached, Biteme will be called in to cast the deciding vote. Really big issues will be put forth in front of the entire board for a vote. DO NOT BOTHER BITEME! RANDALL & ANGIE WILL DO THAT FOR YOU.

  • 3. If you are complaining, we have to know who you are. It helps us understand your perspective if we know who is that is complaining.


  • Methos and ITL administer the site and do a lot of upgrade. It is in the best interest of the board for them to remain neutral and above board politics since they are the webmasters.

    Ebony's main function is to well we are not sure really. She keeps it secret.
    No Complaints should be addressed directly to any of these Admins unless:

    You want to appeal the admin decision

    You want to complain about an admin



  • FINALLY, DO NOT SHARE YOUR PASSWORD WITH OTHER MEMBERS OR NON-MEMBERS. PLEASE LOG IN ONLY AS YOURSELF. WE WANT TO KEEP THINGS HONEST AROUND HERE AND PRETENDING TO BE ANOTHER MEMBER IS CONSIDERED A VIOLATION SERIOUS ENOUGH FOR BANNING



  • POLICING POLICY


  • This site operates a three strike policy. Users will be warned a maximum of three times for any and all offences in a three month period. If the need arises for a fourth warning a temporary ban will be put in place of between 1 to 7 days.


  • Arguing with team members after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should this exceed three strikes a temporary ban will be put in place as above.


  • Users who feel they have been unfairly warned are welcome to contact the relevant team leader, e.g. if warned by a moderator you should contact either Angie or Randall. If they feel you were treated badly they can remove the warning. If you feel their decision is also unfair you may contact Ebs, Methos or ITL. Their decision is final. Contacting groupmembers over warning matters should be done so as a very last resort ... group members do not want to be bothered unless vital.


  • Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent. Circumvention includes re-registering under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new email accountof evade an email ban. Circumvention includes posting as an anonymous user. We can see your IP's and we also have Proxy determining Logging in place to track the proxy and your IP behind it.


  • An exception to the three strike rule applies when users contact team members personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent or vulgar material.Such users may be subject to an immediate permanent ban.


  • Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While the Immortals may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a rare occurence.


  • COPYRIGHT


  • Although I firmly support the Open Source Movement, this site is not an Open Source Project and therefore licences such as the GPL only apply to files/code that is marked as such. All the this site files are covered by the copyright ownership of THE IMMORTAL REALM and the relevant OWNER. and may not be used by anyone without the express permission of THE IMMORTALS this applies to any fan fic written by members. Members art work, members sigs and tags. If you want to replicate something then ask the member that posted it.


  • Well, that's it. We, by posting, this hope to avoid any big board dividing issues by creating a system that treats everyone judiciously, avoids conflcits, and preserves this cool-ass board for years!
